Smile and praise is one of the biggest things we can do for ourselves. I've had people ask, "What's all this smile and praise about? It feels a bit weird." So let's chat about it.
When we're going through the normal things in our day — getting up, cleaning our teeth, showering, sitting at our desk — we often forget how lucky we are, and forget to be grateful for those things. Even if we're working on a business that's a struggle, or we're not feeling great, we can still smile and praise ourselves for all of it, because we really are lucky. Sometimes, when we're feeling low, it's because we haven't put enough "smile and praise" into our pot.
Literally, physically pat yourself on the back. Put a smile on your face. We are so lucky, and showing gratitude to ourselves is a powerful tool. We use it as part of our Dream to Achieve programme, and it comes up a lot in our community.
If you're thinking about uplifting yourself, this is a free technique — use it, even if it feels weird at first, because it's just something you're not used to yet.
So let's make this a thing: smile and flipping praise! Pat yourself on the back, give yourself a high five, even a flipping happy dance. We are so worth it.
